DALLAS - Adrian Peterson ran for 225 yards and made many big plays when No. 2 Oklahoma needed it most, helping the Sooners grind out a 12-0 victory over No. 5 Texas and stretch their winning streak in the storied rivalry to five straight.

The Longhorns (4-1, 1-1 Big 12) avoided getting blown out, but still suffered some stinging embarrassment - getting shut out for the first time in 282 games, ending the longest streak in the country.

While Peterson had his way with the Texas defense, the unit kept the Sooners (5-0, 2-0) out of the end zone until Kejuan Jones scored on a 6-yard run with just 8:07 left.

Peterson didn't score, but the freshman went a long way toward setting up that touchdown and Trey DiCarlo's two field goals.

Showing the speed to get around the end of the line and the size to keep from going down, Peterson had bursts of 44, 26, 19, 17 and 15 yards, enabling the Sooners to wear down the Longhorns by holding the ball for more than 36 minutes.

Texas' Benson, who came in averaging a national-best 186.5 yards per game, was held to 92 yards. Quarterback Vince Young ran for 54 and threw for only 86, completing just 8 of 23 passes. Oklahoma's Jason White was 14-of-26 for only 113 yards.

Southern California held California out of the end zone after a first-and-goal with less than two minutes left and held on to beat the Bears.Before the final four plays, Cal's Aaron Rodgers was 29-for-31 for 267 yards and a touchdown. But after Rodgers got Cal to first-and-goal at the 9 with just under two minutes left, the Trojans got a sack and forced three incomplete passes.Rodgers' final throw came with pressure coming up the middle and zipped by a diving Geoff McArthur in the end zone, sending most of the more than 90,000 at the Los Angeles Coliseum into a frenzy and the Bears home with a hard-fought loss.Southern California (5-0, 2-0 Pac-10) extended its winning streak to 14 games and avenged its only loss in the last 26. The Bears' 34-31 triple-overtime victory last season kept the Trojans from claiming an undisputed national title.Matt Leinart threw two touchdown passes for the Trojans, who had only two possessions in the fourth quarter - both times going three-and-out. Rodgers tied an NCAA record by completing his first 23 passes for the Bears (3-1, 1-1).

Coming off a dismal performance the previous week, Erik Ainge threw a pair of touchdown passes to lead Tennessee.The Vols, a 121/2-point underdog, prevented Georgia from taking control of the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division. They built a quick 10-0 lead and held off the Bulldogs (4-1, 2-1 SEC) at the end.Driving from its own 12 to the Tennessee 19, Georgia had one shot at the end zone with a second remaining - and the chance for an improbable victory. Appropriately, David Greene's pass over the middle didn't come close to connecting with anyone, falling harmlessly to the ground.Tennessee (4-1, 2-1) was coming off a 34-10 loss to Auburn at home. Playing their first road game of the season with a freshman quarterback, the Vols ended Georgia's 17-game winning streak at Sanford Stadium - the second-longest in school history.Ainge completed 12 of 21 for 150 yards and - most important - had no interceptions.

Jason Campbell passed for 201 yards and two touchdowns, including an Auburn-record 87-yarder to Silas Daniels.The Tigers are 6-0 for the first time since the 1997 season, with only one game decided by under 24 points. They are in line for another move in the rankings after Oklahoma's 12-0 victory over No. 5 Texas.Louisiana Tech's Ryan Moats, the nation's No. 2 rusher, limped off the field in the first quarter with a sprained right ankle and didn't return. Moats finished with no yards on three carries after coming in averaging 185.6 per game for the Bulldogs (3-3).Ronnie Brown gained 109 yards on 10 carries with a touchdown for Auburn, and Carnell Williams had 56 yards on 12 carries and also scored while setting up a TD with a 50-yard punt return. Auburn also had nine sacks.

Leon Washington rushed for a career-high 164 yards and scored on runs of 21 and 45 yards in the second half to help Florida State rally.It was the third game against a ranked team for Syracuse (3-3), and unlike the previous two - a 51-0 loss at No. 9 Purdue and a 31-10 loss at No. 10 Virginia - the Orange made it difficult for the Seminoles (4-1) and quarterback Wyatt Sexton.Syracuse closed to 17-13 on a 39-yard field goal by Collin Barber with 10 minutes left and drove to the Florida State 30 in the final minute. But linebacker Sam McGrew intercepted Perry Patterson's pass with 5 seconds left to end it.

Marcus Randall came off the bench and threw two touchdown passes, including a 10-yarder with 27 seconds to play, to help No. 24 LSU upset No. 12 Florida.Not only did LSU (4-2, 2-2) rebound from an embarrassing 45-16 loss at Georgia last week, it also overcame a 21-7 deficit, three turnovers and the loss of starting quarterback JaMarcus Russell against Florida.The Gators (3-2, 2-2) led 21-17 with 2:06 left, and the Tigers needed to go 50 yards for the go-ahead score.Joseph Addai ran three times for 34 yards on the drive, but Randall made the biggest play. He avoided a heavy rush and found Addai for a 10-yard touchdown pass on third down with 27 seconds remaining.Russell injured his ankle in the first capsule and was replaced by Randall.

Tyler Ecker caught a short pass from Chad Henne over the middle, eluded two tackles and lumbered down the sideline for a 31-yard touchdown with 1:57 left to give Michigan its second straight dramatic comeback over Minnesota.Minnesota led 24-17 early in the fourth quarter - after scoring 17 straight points - before losing another heartbreaker against Michigan.Garrett Rivas' 29-yard field goal with 9:36 left pulled Michigan to 24-20 and started the comeback. The Wolverines forced the Gophers to punt on their next two possessions to set up the winning drive.The defending Big Ten champion Wolverines (5-1, 3-0) have not lost to the Gophers (5-1, 2-1) since 1986. Last year in Minneapolis, Minnesota had a 21-point lead in the fourth quarter before losing 38-35.

Wisconsin throttled Ohio State's offense, and Anthony Davis slashed for 168 yards and a touchdown for the Badgers.It was Wisconsin's third straight win on Ohio State's home turf, the first time a visitor has done that since Illinois won four in a row from 1988-94. The Badgers had never before won even twice in a row at Ohio State in the series dating to 1913.The loss ended Ohio State's 18-game home winning streak and, on the heels of last week's stunning 33-27 overtime loss to Northwestern, pinned coach Jim Tressel with back-to-back losses for the first time in his 31/2 seasons. The Buckeyes (3-2) also dropped to 0-2 in the Big Ten for the first time since 1992.Wisconsin, 3-0 in the Big Ten, is 6-0 for the first time since 1998.Sophomore John Stocco was steady all day for the Badgers, completing 15 of 24 passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns without an interception.

Vernand Morency ran for 165 yards and two touchdowns and Donovan Woods threw for three more scores for Oklahoma State.Oklahoma State (5-0, 2-0 Big 12) established its powerful running game early, blowing the Buffaloes back on Morency's 58-yard touchdown run on its third play. Morency added a 6-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, eclipsing 100 yards for the seventh straight regular-season game.Lawrence Vickers had 168 total yards - 72 rushing, 96 receiving - and scored on a 6-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter for Colorado (3-2, 0-2).

Georgia Tech ended Maryland's 13-game home winning streak in stunning fashion, blanking the Terrapins through three quarters and forcing out ineffective quarterback Joel Statham.Reggie Ball threw for 197 yards and a touchdown to help the Yellow Jackets (3-2, 2-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) snap a two-game losing streak.The Terrapins (3-2, 1-1) were undefeated at home since September 2002 and 21-1 at Byrd Stadium since coach Ralph Friedgen took over the program in 2001.

Ethan Flatt found Bill Flowers in the corner of the end zone for a 29-yard touchdown pass with 1:05 left to lift Mississippi past South Carolina.Flowers sneaked behind the Gamecocks' defense on fourth-and-10 and made a tough catch on an underthrown ball, just staying inbounds.South Carolina (4-2, 2-2 Southeastern Conference) managed to get the ball down to the Ole Miss 31 with 30 seconds left. But after Syvelle Newton spiked the ball, Corey Mills sacked him on second down, and the Rebels (3-3, 2-1) broke up two passes in the end zone. Flatt was 18-of-27 for 214 yards.
