The Butler Rotary Club has donated a total of $4,000 for flood relief to four organizations in Butler County.

The agencies that each received $1,000 are the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, the United Way of Butler County, and the Butler County Community Action and Development Organization.

The money be used to continue providing help to the Sept. 17 and 18 flooding victims of Hurricane Ivan.

Cullen Farrell, a teacher at Karns City High School, has been selected to participate in the Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Program.

He will be one of 200 educators to go to Japan in November.

The visit will begin in Tokyo, where the group will receive an orientation on Japanese life and culture and meet with Japanese government officials and educators.

They will spend the remaining time traveling throughout Japan, where they will meet with Japanese students and teachers.

They will also visit cultural sites and local industries.

The Butler County Association of the Blind recently received a donation in the amount of $3,500 from the Lions of Pennsylvania Foundation.

Twenty-three models from the Marilyn E. Kane Modeling School and Agency in Butler raised $2,900 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association by performing mannequin modeling at the Clearview Mall.

The top fund raiser was Hope Schnell, who raised nearly $800.
