Junior midfielder Julie Kirwan scored two goals Wednesday, but they weren't enough to produce victory.

The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team (9-0-2, 5-0-1) battled Lock Haven to a 2-2 tie.

The Rock entered the game alone in first place in the PSAC West, as well as ranked No. 3 nationally and No. 1 in the Northeast Region.

SRU was out-shot 21-8, but freshman goalkeeper Karrine Riggins recorded six saves to preserve the tie.

SRU travels to East Stroudsburg for a noon match Sunday.

Sophomore goalie Tara Bailey recorded 18 saves for The Rock (1-11, 0-10) in a 2-0 loss Wednesday to PSAC rival Kutztown (12-2, 7-2).The Rock was out-shot by a 25-3 margin and plays at Kutztown at noon Saturday.

Butler County Community College (19-3, 15-0) received eight kills, 20 digs and four blocks from Autumn Burke in a 30-21, 30-19, 30-18 win over CCAC Wednesday.Katie Jewart added nine kills and four blocks, Heather Hartman five kills and Sarah Morley 28 assists.The Pioneers play the winner of No. 4 seed Pitt-Titusville and No. 5 seed CCAC-Boyce in conference tournament action Monday.
