Clement takes loss vs. Phils Saturday
Hard luck on the mound continued Saturday for Butler native Matt Clement.
The Chicago Cubs right-hander allowed just four hits and struck out 10 in seven innings, but dropped a 4-3 decision to the Philadelphia Phillies at Wrigley Field.
Clement allowed two-run homers to Mike Lieberthal and Bobby Abreu - both homers following fielding errors - and walked one batter. Despite a 3.03 earned run average, he has won just once in his last eight starts and has not won back-to-back starts since May.
Clement is 8-10 on the year and is fifth in the National League in strikeouts.
