Carter Ham, Multinational Brigade-North commander during a ceremony July 7 in Mosul, Iraq. Vogel, a native of Slippery Rock, is deployed in Iraq as a military policeman. He received shrapnel wounds to his right hand on June 24 when his convoy was attacked by small arms fire and rocket propelled grenades. Before deploying to Iraq, Vogel, 22, was a security officer. His parents, Lawrence and Twila, and his daughter, Isabelle, live in Slippery Rock.
