Butler woman named 2004 BMH alumni nurse
Nancy Vidmar of Butler was recently named alumni nurse of the year at the annual Butler Memorial Hospital nurses' alumni banquet.
A 1955 graduate of Butler
Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Vidmar worked in the hospital's maternity department, at Sunnyview Home and at Lifesteps Geriatic Day Care.
She has served as president, vice president and secretary of the alumni association. She also volunteers for community dinners at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
She lives with her husband, Joseph.
Three scholarships were awarded during the banquet to grandchildren of alumni members. They are:
Nikki Nguyen, Mark Lawrence and Brian Wilkinson.
Nguyen is the granddaughter of Karen Cooper. A graduate of Butler High School, she is attending Wooster College as a pre-med student.
Lawrence is the grandson of Nora Mae Smith. A graduate of Wilmington High School, he will attend Sharon General Hospital to study nursing.
Wilkinson is the grandson of Deanna Bodamer. A graduate of Boardman High School, he will attend the University of Toledo to study pharmacy.
Officers were also installed at the banquet. They are
Elaine Gaiser, president; Linda Cunningham, vice president; Jeanne Morrow, secretary; and Jane Titley, treasurer.

East/West:
Robert Freemon and Nicholas Tredennick, George Aggen and Judy Ludwig and Louis Joseph and Jan Horwitz.

Deborah Wellner and Karen Baker, both teachers in the Butler School District, recently received a $500 "Be Your Best" teacher scholarship from the National School Supply and Equipment Association.
The scholarship will be used to pay for various training sessions over the next few months.
