The Slippery Rock University women's track and field team successfully defended its PSAC outdoor team championship over the weekend at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.

SRU won the meet by 63 points over runner up Shippensburg and by 75 points over third-place Kutztown.

The title marked The Rock's third in four years and the 11th in the 26-year history of the PSAC women's competition.

Sophomore Andi Rose won two individual first places and ran a leg of the winning 4x100 meter relay. She set a PSAC record in winning the 100-meter hurdles in 14.01 seconds.

Rose joined Jill Rekich of Butler, Kristen Jones and Janiece Rash in setting a PSAC record in the 4x100 relay with a time of 47.21 seconds. She won the 400-meter hurdles in 1:02.22.

Senior Karyn McCready won her third successive javelin title with a throw of 147 feet, 7 inches. Jen Menhall and Raisa Weiss took top honors in the pole vault at 10-8.

SRU had numerous other place-winners. The top three in each event earned All-PSAC honors.
