All-Star Sprint show at Lernerville Friday
The drivers have waited longer than eight months, but the 2003 All-Star Dave and Earl Bauman Memorial Sprint Car feature will run Friday night at Lernerville Speedway.
The race is coupled with a Last Chance qualifier race to give cars a fresh shot at making the 35-lap feature.
Late Models and Pure Stocks join the 7:30 p.m. race card. Modifieds will not be on hand.
The 16th annual race pays $6,000 to win.
The All-Star Sprint feature includes regular Lernerville names like Rod George, Chad Hill, Arnie Kent, Ed Lynch Jr., Scott Bonnell, Dan Shetler, Kevin Schaeffer, Eric Smith, Jamie Smith and Ralph Engel Jr.
All-Star Sprinters include Steve Smith, Dale Blaney, Ryan Coniam, Chad Kemenah, Byron Reed, Jeremy Campbell and Bob Bennett.
The first five rows feature four Lernerville track champions with a combined seven titles at the Sarver oval. Two-time points champion George is on the pole. Blaney is on the outside of the second row.
Blaney, Lernerville's 1991 Sprint points champion, has not won a race there since September of that year. Lynch is in the second row and Jamie Smith is in the fourth row.
This race honors Lernerville assistant promoter Earl Bauman, who died in 1985. It was since re-named to honor David Bauman, Earl's son, who was killed in an accident Jan. 1, 1998.
Earl Bauman's daughter, Barbara Bauman Bartley, is a co-director at Lernerville.
Regular admission price of $10 will be charged.
