That's what Texas A&M pitcher Zach Jackson was Saturday.
Jackson, a graduate of Seneca Valley, retired the first 24 batters he faced in Saturday's 4-2 victory over No. 19 Nebraska.
He was unable to cleanly field a grounder in the top of the ninth inning, which caromed off his foot and was ruled a single.
He lost the shutout two batters later, but went the distance, striking out 11 batters and improving his record to 9-3.
Jackson tossed a no-hitter in his first game of the season with the Aggies (34-14, 10-9 in the Big 12), who are currently ranked No. 10 in the country.
Robin Meling, a member of the Bucknell women's track and field team, placed fourth in the triple jump and seventh in the long jump at the Patriot League Championships Saturday.Meling, a graduate of Slippery Rock High School, had a distance of 37 feet, six inches in the triple jump and 17-8 in the long jump.Her leaps placed her ninth and 10th, respectively on Bucknell's all-time list.Bucknell won the conference championship crown ahead of Army.
Butler native Matt Clement won his fourth successive start Saturday for the Chicago Cubs, defeating St. Louis, 4-2.Clement worked eight innings, allowed five hits and one earned run. He struck out five and walked one while improving to 4-1 on the season.
