Colin Scott pitched a four-hit shutout as the host Slippery Rock University baseball team ended a seven-game losing streak with a 5-0 win in the second game of a doubleheader with Gannon College Monday.

The Rock lost the first game 4-1.

In the second game, SRU (22-18) used a four-run fourth inning to open up the game.

That's all Scott needed as he cruised through seven innings of shutout pitching. He struck out six and walked just three.

In the first game, Nick Armstrong pitched well, striking out seven in seven innings or work, but The Rock managed just six hits and one run against Gannon (16-16).

The men's and women's teams combined for 13 first-place finishes in winning the PSAC West Challenge at Indiana (Pa.) University over the weekend.Freshman Raisa Weiss set a school record in the women's pole vault at 11 feet, 6 inches in winning that event.SRU junior Kristen Jones won the 100 meters and long jump, sophomore Andi Rose won the 100-meter hurdles and 400 hurdles on the women's side. Senior Ben Steingrabe was a double-winner on the men's side, claiming the 200 meters and 110-meter hurdles.All three also took part in winning relays. Jones anchored The Rock's victorious 1,600-meter relay unit. Rose ran a leg of the 1,600 and the 400 relay.Butler graduate Jill Rekich ran a leg of the winning 400 and 1,600 relay units as well. Slippery Rock High graduate Melissa Sopher ran a leg of the 1,600 relay.Steingrabe ran legs of the winning 400 and 1600 relays for the men.Karyn McCready won the javelin for The Rock women, and junior Kurt Thompson cleared 15 feet in winning the pole vault for The Rock men.
