Senior Jessica Bungo and sophomore Ashley Michaux combined to win three matches Wednesday, but the Slippery Rock University women's tennis team still dropped a 5-4 decision to Bloomsburg.

The match featured the top two teams in the PSAC and NCAA Division II East Region.

SRU, ranked No. 39 nationally, dropped to 7-4.

Bungo and Michaux won the No. 1 doubles match, 8-2. Bungo won her No. 1 singles match 6-1, 10-3 while Michaux won her No. 2 singles match, 6-3, 6-1.

The Rock's No. 2 doubles team of senior Kelly Anderson and red-shirt freshman and Seneca Valley graduate Ashley Greene won a 9-7 decision.

The Rock men dropped a 9-0 decision to Bloomsburg to fall to 1-8 on the year.

SRU's men play Baldwin-Wallace (Ohio) at 8 a.m. Friday while the women play East Stroudsburg at noon Friday.

Jen Zuzack is competing in the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships in Buffalo, N.Y., this week.The SRU sophomore and reigning PSAC champion in the 50-yard freestyle competed in that event Wednesday and tied for 12th place.She will compete in the 100-yard backstroke Friday, the 100-yard freestyle and 200-yard backstroke Saturday. Her highest seeding is seventh in the 50 free.Zuzack is trying to become the first Rock woman swimmer to earn All-America honors since 1991-92, when Marcia Romanchak and Dawn Huckins achieved the honor.

The Rock baseball team (8-5) was swept by Winona State (Minn.), 17-10 and 7-1, in a doubleheader Wednesday in Fort Myers, Fla.SRU held a 10-1 lead in the fifth inning of the first game, only to see Winona State score 12 unearned runs in the final two frames. Redshirt freshman right-hander Derek Blyzwick (1-1) took the loss.Senior left-hander Steve Norris (0-2) took the loss in the second game.SRU plays a pair of games today in Fort Myers, facing Southwest Minnesota State at 4 p.m. and South Dakota State at 7 p.m.
