Slippery Rock University basketball players Jajuan Davis and Stacey Green were named second-team All-PSAC West performers.
Davis, a 6-foot-2 junior guard, averaged 11.4 points per game and led the 14-team PSAC with a 91.9 percent free-throw shooting average.
Green, a 6-foot junior forward, led The Rock in scoring (15.3) and rebounding (7.6). She was sixth in the PSAC in scoring, 10th in free-throw percentage (74.8) and 11th in rebounding.
Green is the 13th player in Rock women's basketball history to score 1,000 points and is fourth in all-time rebounds with 714.
An area tennis squad took first-place honors at the U.S. Tennis Association Middle States conference in Hershey recently.The championship squad, which represented the Allegheny Mountain District of the USTA Middle States, was comprised of Colin Laffey of Pittsburgh and Chelsea Gibson of Butler, Doug Subosits of McMurray, Chris Mengel of Fox Chapel, Cate Stewart of Butler, Sarah Lynch of Gibsonia, Gabrielle Catanzariti of Pittsburgh and Bjorn Frantangelo of Plum.They defeated teams from districts encompassing New Jersey, Delaware, Philadelphia, Eastern Pennsylvania and Central Pennsylvania.Butler grad
Kim Smith, a freshman sprinter on the Slippery Rock University women's track and field team, is scheduled to be one of the contestants on "The Price is Right" game show airing Friday on CBS.Smith is in California with her teammates to compete in a pair of outdoor track and field competitions.She was selected from the studio audience in attendance at the show's taping Monday, SRU track and field coach John Papa said.
