Butler-Freeport trail hosts activities
Chris Ziegler, president of the Butler-Freeport Community Trail board of directors, announced upcoming trail-related events on Tuesday.
Ziegler said local children can trick-or-treat from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the caboose along the trail near the intersection of Helmbold and Center avenues in Cabot.
The no-scare event will include cider, Eat'n Park cookies and other treats as well as tours of the caboose, which will be decorated for Halloween.
Trail board meetings will return on Monday after a pandemic-related hiatus.
The public can attend the meeting, which will be held at 7 p.m. the Buffalo Creek Nature Park at the Monroe Road trailhead.
Ziegler is asking trail enthusiasts to provide letters of nomination for the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources' annual Trail of the Year contest. Letters can be emailed to butlerfreeporttrail@yahoo.com.
