Police look for church burglar
State police are asking for the public's help regarding a break-in Monday at a Saxonburg church that involved the theft of laptops.
Police said an unknown man stole three Microsoft Office Pro laptops valued at about $1,000 each.
Police said between 1:45 and 2 a.m., the man entered the basement area of New Life Christian Ministries.
Police said he may have gained entry to the basement through an unlocked door. Several classrooms are located in the basement.
Upon entry, the man broke a surveillance camera by removing it from the ceiling, police said in a news release Tuesday.
Police said the man rummaged through several classrooms, even attempting to remove a television and mounted iPad from a wall in the one of the classrooms. Police said the man then proceeded to the main floor of the church and forced his way into an office.
“He did so by using what appears to be a screwdriver and pry bar,” police said.
Anyone who recognizes the man or has information about the break-in is asked to call the state police Butler barracks at 724-284-8100.
