Judge William Shaffer

Common Pleas Court Judge William Shaffer sentenced a number of defendants in criminal cases in sentence court Thursday:

Ellis Bohon, 36, of Grove City, was sentenced to serve 18 months of probation after pleading guilty to charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia in one case and criminal mischief in another case. State police filed charges in both cases from incidents that occurred March 11, 2020. Other charges filed in both cases were dismissed.

Shawn Michael Kennedy, 47, of East Butler, was sentenced to serve six months of probation, pay a $1,000 fine and complete a highway alcohol safety school and a litter pickup program after pleading to a charge of driving under the influence filed by state police following a January incident. Another charge of DUI and four summary traffic violations were dismissed.

Tori Lynn Zaborowski, 29, of Cheswick, was sentenced to six months of probation after pleading guilty to a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia filed by Butler police from an October 2020 incident. Charges of possession of a controlled substance and public drunkenness were dismissed.

Daniel Paul Findley, 35, of Cherry Tree, was sentenced to serve four to 12 months in jail followed by 174 days of probation, pay a $1,000 fine and complete highway alcohol safety school and 60 hours of community service after pleading guilty to charges of possession of a controlled substance and DUI filed by state police following an October 2019 incident. Charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and two summary traffic violations were dismissed.

Colby Ellis Nicholas, 35, of Butler, was sentenced to serve 12 months of probation, pay a $1,500 fine and complete alcohol highway safety school and a litter pickup program after pleading guilty to charges of possession of a controlled substance and DUI filed by Butler police following an April 2020 incident. Charges of tampering with evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia and another DUI charge were dismissed.

Christopher Vogal, 35, of Pittsburgh, was sentenced to serve 36 months of probation and given credit for 103 days served in jail after pleading guilty to a charge of retail theft filed by Cranberry Township police following a February 2020 incident. A charge of possession of a controlled substance was dismissed.

Michael Joseph Hillard, 40, of Butler, was sentenced to serve 12 months of probation and pay a $500 fine after pleading guilty to charges of habitual offenders and driving with a suspended license filed by state police following a December 2019 incident. A summary traffic violation was dismissed.

Jesse Cole Kastelic, 26, of Slippery Rock, was sentenced to serve six months of probation and pay a $25 fine after pleading guilty to a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia filed by Butler police following a May 2020 incident. A charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana was dismissed.

Kenneth Patrick Haney Jr., 29, of New Castle, was sentenced to serve 90 to 180 days in prison followed by 54 months of probation, pay fines totaling $1,700 and complete alcohol highway safety school and 25 hours of community service after pleading guilty to charges of DUI and driving with a suspended license filed by Slippery Rock University police stemming from a November 2019 incident. Three summary traffic violations were dismissed.

Travis K. Pritts, 39, of Butler, was sentenced to serve three to six months in prison, but was ordered to be released after serving 72 hours, after pleading guilty to a charge of DUI filed by state police following a February incident. His sentence included participation in a litter pickup program and to attend a victim-impact panel. Another DUI charge and two summary traffic violations were dismissed.
