Fighting Fire A Family Affair

Adams Area Fire District figefighters respond to a call.

Adams Area Fire District, which formed after Mars Volunteer Fire Company and the Community Volunteer Fire Company of Valencia consolidated, moved to its Route 228 location in 2017.

The facility includes space for the district's response vehicles, offices, classrooms and a live-in firefighter program.

Live-in firefighters occupy seven of the district's eight single rooms. Amenities such as a full-scale kitchen and a shared community room attract volunteers from across the state.

Volunteers, who say they become like family, participate in regular drills, have access to outside training and have the opportunity to participate in an incentive stipend program.
