Dog abuse needs punished

I see that the case against John Riordan, who took a sledgehammer to a dog, has surfaced. Punishment seems to be the issue.

I don’t believe that Mr. Riordan should be drawn and quartered but he does need to be punished.

Mr. Riordan’s attorney Michael Zunder, who spends his time representing the dregs of society, has decided that the dog, which has died since the attack, had some teeth knocked out by the force of the blows and was hit on the nose, but according to Mr. Zunder, suffered no “serious injuries.” I would suggest to attorney Zunder that I wonder if Zunder had some teeth knocked out and was struck on the nose with a sledge hammer if he would consider the injuries serious? Apparently he thinks little of defenseless dogs being abused.

We do not know, and will never know if the attack had anything to do with the dog’s death. We also do not know that it didn’t. I certainly hope that Judge William Shaffer will mete out appropriate punishment and not just a slap on the wrist.

Howie Pentony,

Prospect
