SUV crashes into gas station

An SUV crashed into the storefront of a Shell Gas station Thursday night on West Jefferson Street.

Butler County 911 dispatchers sent the call around 7:15 p.m. to Butler police, fire department and ambulance services.

According to Butler firefighters, the driver refused medical treatment at the scene, and no one else was injured.

The driver had left the road, struck a vent leading to underground tanks and drove between the pumps before crashing into the store.

According to firefighters, the driver claimed his brakes locked, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.

Butler Police were on the scene investigating the crash.

The Butler Fire Department blocked one lane of traffic on Jefferson Street for at least 30 minutes.

The tow truck arrived around 7:45 p.m.
