SV grad named student marshal for PSU ceremony

Alyssa Jo Tice

Alyssa Jo Tice, a 2016 graduate of Seneca Valley High School, was named the computer science student marshal for Penn State University’s spring commencement, where she will graduate summa cum laude. The commencement ceremony will be held virtually Saturday, May 9.

She is the daughter of Carol Herman of Harmony and Richard Tice of Jackson Center, Mercer, Pa.

College of Engineering student marshals are selected for their outstanding academic achievement and contributions to engineering student life.

While at Penn State, Tice received the Evan Pugh Scholar Award, the President’s Freshman Award and an honorable mention for the College of Engineering’s Joelle Award. She was also a BP Scholar and the recipient of the College of Engineering Boeing Scholarship; the Ruth Varner Otto Memorial Scholarship; the Scholarship for Women Studying Information Security; the A. Whitney Frankenberry Scholarship in International Programs; and the Chris Mader Memorial Scholarship.

As a Schreyer Honors Scholar, Tice completed an honors thesis titled “Datalog Based Superset Disassembly of ELF Binaries.”

After graduation, Tice will work as a software engineer for Microsoft in Seattle.

Prior to beginning her employment in the fall, she will attend a yoga teacher certification program to pursue her passion of teaching and practicing yoga.
