Seneca Valley's Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) Raider Battalion recently received the 2019-20 “Heart of a Lion” award from the Zelienople chapter of the Lions Club for their outstanding service to the citizens of the Zelienople area.

The “Heart of a Lion” Award is presented to someone in the community who is not a Lion, but who has volunteered their time and services. Seneca Valley's JROTC program regularly collaborates with local organizations on several service learning and community service projects as part of their commitment to leadership excellence.

Haine Middle School will host an exploratory career day from 9:15 to 11 a.m. Friday.Presenters include careers in fields such as engineering, hospitality, medical, technology and various arts. Students will have the opportunity to explore four different and unique presentations.During each presentation, students will be asked to complete a graphic organizer that captures aspects of the career, such as skills or education needed, as well as a typical day in each career.A detailed schedule of activities will be available at the welcome table in the lobby.

Karns City School District's kindergarten registration for the 2020-21 school year will be from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. March 16 at the Chicora Elementary School Library.Children must be 5 years old before July 1.Parents must bring their child's birth certificate, updated immunization records, proof of residency and emergency telephone numbers.Other documents and orientation activities will be required before the start of the school year.
