U/ACV's Hoffman honored

Colton Hoffman of Union/A-C Valley has been named District 9 Small School South Division Player of the Year.

The linebacker was among six Falcon Knight defenders named to the conference all-star team. The others were linebacker Eli Penny, lineman Layton Stewart, safeties Tanner Merwin and Kylar Culbertson, and cornerback Tony Thompson.

Offensively, Union/A-C Valley has three all-conference players in lineman Stewart, receiver Merwin and quarterback Luke Bowser. Caden Rainey made the team as a return specialist.

Karns City and Moniteau had players make the District 9 Large School all-star squad.

Offensively, the Gremlins have lineman Riley Davis and tight end Nathan Waltman, with Kaden Scherer making it as a return specialist. Moniteau lineman Donnie Thomas also made the squad.

Defensively, Karns City has linebackers Waltman and Anthony Kamenski, lineman Davis and cornerback Scherer on the team. The Warriors have linebacker Nick Martino.

Moniteau punter David Stamm and place-kicker Ethan McDeavitt, along with Karns City place-kicker Owen Collwell, also made the team.

Offensive Co-MVPs for District 9 Large School are running backs Austin Newcomb of Clarion and Jake Alcorn of Kane. Defensive MVP is linebacker Nathan Taylor of Brookville.

Offensive Lineman of the Year is Ben Smith of Clarion with Ridgway's Gabe Watts receiving Defensive Lineman of the Year honors.

Keystone quarterback Isaak Jones is Small School Offensive Player of the Year. Linemen of the Year are Keystone's Kirk Wolbert (offense) and Redbank Valley's Ethan Hetrick (defense).

Coaches of the Year are Ridgway's Mark Heindl (large school) and Keystone's Ryan Smith (small school).
