SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock Community Library will have a 20,000 book “mega sale” from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 25 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Slippery Rock Township Building, 155 Branchton Road.

ADAMS TWP — The township will host a movie and food event at 6 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Rotary Pavilion.Pumpkin painting, costume contests, food and a bonfire will be available. “It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” will be featured at 7:15 p.m.Register for the event by calling 724-625-2221, Ext. 239, or emailing parksandrec@adamstwp.org. The event's rain date is Oct. 27.

BRADY TWP — The Jennings Environmental Center, 2951 Prospect Road, has the following upcoming programs:- 7 p.m. Oct. 27, “A Bump in the Night.”When darkness envelops the landscape and human vision fails, the other four senses suddenly become alert. Listen to nocturnal noises and look at what makes them;- 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 2, “Finding the Park’s Past.” Help the center uncover the human history of the land during this exploration of genealogical resources at the Butler Area Public Library. Participants should have an interest in genealogy and family history, with experience in family trees;- 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 3, “Project Feeder Watch.” Join Jennings staff to learn how counting birds at feeders can help scientists track long-term trends in bird distribution and abundance. The program is free, but registration is required no later than Oct. 30. Register online at http://events.dcnr.pa.gov or by calling the center at 724-794-6011;- 8:30 a.m. to noon Nov. 6, “Homeschool CSI: Project Feeder Watch.” The next in a series of citizen science investigations (CSI) for home schooling families is an opportunity to learn about birds, while contributing to scientific research. The program is designed for ages 5 and older. Enrollment is limited.
