Skilled Trades Camporee

Savinda was one of more than 70 scouts from six Boy Scout troops across the region who attended the event organized by the Moraine Trails Council in Butler. Scouts took classes towards earning merit badges in plumbing, electricity, home repairs and woodworking. Scouts also completed a community service project for the Butler County Family YMCA camp in Slippery Rock by building bird boxes as part of the event. Savinda and her sister, who is also a Boy Scout and attended the event, are two of the 13 girls who joined the Ford City troop when Boy Scouts opened the door to girls joining the their ranks.
