Hundreds gather to 'Walk To End Alzheimer's'
Purple was the color of the day Saturday at Butler County Community College where more than 300 people participated in the annual Walk To End Alzheimer's.
The walk, hosted by the Greater Pennsylvania Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, took walkers around a one-mile loop at BC3's main campus in Butler Township.
The Butler County walk was one of more than 600 held Saturday in communities nationwide. The Walk to End Alzheimer's is touted as the world's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research.
The area chapter had a goal to raise $60,000, said Nathaniel Sofranko, the event manager. The money was collected by 40 walk teams representing businesses and families.
