BRADY TWP — Join Jennings Environmental Education Center staff for a new series of programs designed for active senior citizens.

The third in this series will be from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 27.

Learn about the history of the Brydon coal mine, on-site at Jennings. Discover the pollution that runs out of the mine and investigate the measures taken to improve the water quality. Also, visit the Foltz Hill School House, a one-room schoolhouse on-site, to learn its history and the history of education in Butler County. This program is free but registration is required by Monday. Register online at http://events.dcnr.pa.gov or by calling the center at 724-794-6011.

BRADY TWP — Jennings Environmental Education Center will offer a natural history program about beavers from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.Join Jennings staff to learn more about an animal that has made its presence known again at the park after a period of absence.A brief, indoor introduction will be followed by an outdoor walk to search for signs of recent beaver activity, and perhaps even to catch a glimpse of one of these industrious creatures.Pre-registration is not necessary for this free, public program.
