Parking problem at Mars?
ADAMS TWP — Mars’ first high school football game is slated Aug. 23. That much is all but guaranteed.
Parking, however, might not be due to ongoing renovations at the middle school.
Construction equipment is being housed in the parking lot, which typically serves as game parking.
“I’ve had conversations with the contractors,” Superintendent Wesley Shipley said at Tuesday night’s school board meeting. “We’re assured that they understand that need (for parking).”
According to Shipley, the district plans to have shuttle buses from Centennial and Mars High School available for running visitors to the sports complex.
“I’m saying this very vaguely because ... things aren’t detailed at this point,” Shipley said.
He added that the district wants to avoid having visitors park on the premises during construction.
“The majority of the parking lot work is to be started this week and finished next week,” Shipley said. “We should be OK.”
The game is against West Mifflin and starts at 7 p.m. at the Mars Athletic Complex.
