Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68, will have a quartet providing the special music Sunday.

The book club of Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Concord and North Washington churches will have combined worship services at Concord Presbyterian Church, 625 Hooker Road, West Sunbury, starting Sunday. The outdoor worship service will be in the picnic pavilion at 9:30 a.m. followed by a potluck picnic.

Session meets at 7 p.m., and the AA group meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main Ext.WW meets at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday, at 10 a.m. Aug. 22 and at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 24.

First Baptist Christian School, a ministry of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., has a 7 p.m. Thursday back-to-school night for all parents, students and teachers.The Sunday schedule begins with 9:45 a.m. Sunday school classes, followed by an 11 a.m. worship service, a luncheon and a 1:15 p.m. worship service.The first day of First Baptist Christian School is 8 a.m. Wednesday.The youth group will begin meeting for the fall at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.The first meeting of the fall's Weekly Kids Klub for ages 5 to fourth grade will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., will celebrate Holy Communion at the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service.The church picnic at Lutherlyn's Dogwood Shelter in Shaulis Village will be preceded at noon Sunday by a Service of the Word. The picnic meal will follow at 12:30 p.m. Take a dish to share. Beverages, meats and place settings will be provided.

Organist Ernie Taylor will provide the anthem for Sunday worship at Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St. The men's team will usher.The garden club volunteers will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday to weed and maintain the church landscape. Volunteers should bring their own tools.

The Intersection Community Church, 120 Walker Ave., invites all families in the community to attend a family meeting at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday to discuss the mission of the church.The home groups will begin a series on “Freedom” Sept. 11. No experience, audition or long-term commitment is needed to join the choir. After worship Sunday at Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., Nicholas Ripper will share some of his experiences and impressions from his recent internship in the Eastern European country of Moldova.Bible study resumes at 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the Memorial Room.Saint Andrews will join with other local Presbyterian churches Aug. 25 for “Worship without Walls” at Alameda Park. The service begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Masonic Shelter. After worship, there will be a giant church picnic. Take a salad or side dish large enough to feed 10 people.

St. John's Lutheran Church, 100 Main St., Connoquenessing, celebrates Holy Communion during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service.The August cause of the month is the Armstrong Guardian Angels Healing Heroes Partnership to provide trained service dogs for qualified disabled veterans.The church council meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
