Jean B. Purvis

In September, the Community Health Clinic of Buter County, 130 Bonnie Drive, changed its name to the Jean B. Purvis Community Health Center to honor the woman who created it.

And to honor her further, the board of directors of the health center has named Jean B. Purvis board member emerita. The designation recognizes Purvis with perpetual honorary board membership.

The health center provides primary medical, dental and behavioral health care and health and wellness education to uninsured working people in Butler County and surrounding areas.

It was the brainchild of Purvis who patterned it after a Volunteers in Medicine clinic she discovered in Hilton Head, S.C.
