Ackerman shatters her own jav record
Maryann Ackerman shattered her own record in the javelin with a throw of 144 feet, 9 inches as the Slippery Rock High girls track and field team edged District 10 power Hickory for the team title at the West Middlesex Invitational Saturday.
The Rockets scored 125 team points to Hickory's 122.
Slippery Rock had a slew of first-place finishes, led by Ackerman.
Anna Kadlubek won the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.14 seconds.
She ran a 12.84 in the preliminary race.
Kadlubek also won the 200 with a time of 26.54.
Gianna Bedel won the high jump at 5 feet, 4 inches.
The 400-meter relay team of Sierra Nagy, Emma McDermott, Tessa McHattie and Kadlubek also took home a first place with a time of 50.94.
Ackerman was also second in the shot put with a throw of 33-10½.
In the boys meet, Slippery Rock's 3,200-meter relay team of Riley Lewis, Tim Holtz, Chad Green and Kristian Sosa won with a time of 8:46.34.
The boys finished sixth with 42 points.
Softball
Kate Kunsman had three hits, including a double, as the Slippery Rock High softball team remained unbeaten with a 6-2 win Saturday over Wilmington.
The Rockets also won 11-9 over Sharon on Thursday.
Julianna Hutchinson also had a pair of hits, including a double, for Slippery Rock (3-0).
Alex Frazier pitched seven strong innings for the win, striking out five.

Girls Lacrosse
Eliza Drohan, Evelyn Vissari and Kate Quinlan each scored three goals as Butler cruised to a 13-2 win over Conneaut.
Taryn Thompson added two goals and Karolyn Miller and Sarah Coleman also found the net for the Golden Tornado.
Boys Lacrosse
Noah Vandewater and Cory Lindey each scored two goals to lead Seneca Valley to a 9-3 win over Upper St. Clair.
The Raiders' junior varsity also emerged with a 6-3 victory.
Butler 12, Indiana 6 — Butler's win Friday was spurred by strong offensive efforts from Connor Bachman, Dom Fudoli and Anthony Daviduk.
Jacob Cuny played well in net to help the Golden Tornado move their record to 3-2.
