CHERRY TWP — Moniteau High School will present the musical “The Little Mermaid” at 7:30 p.m. April 5 and at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. April 6 in the high school auditorium, 1810 W. Sunbury Road.

Liz Stewart is the director, and Jarrod Hull is the producer.

Darcie Bishop is the vocal director, Jess Zoppelt, the choreographer and Nicole Confer, the dance coach.

William Weltman is the conductor, and Dorinda Aigner is the pianist.

Naomi Wagner and Dawn Williams are the costumer designers, Trixi Heck is in charge of hair and makeup, Diane Hunter is in charge of props, and Steve Morgan is the set designer.

Madison Kohler and Kierra Thiry are the stage managers.

In “The Little Mermaid,” beautiful mermaid Ariel should be a happy girl — she lives in an enchanted undersea country, her father is a king, and she has the most beautiful singing voice

But she is a passionate, headstrong teenager, and wants what she cannot have — to live on land.

When she falls in love with a handsome human prince, Ariel is more determined than ever to gain a pair of legs. But her only option is to defy her furious father and bargain with Ursula the Sea Witch, giving up her voice as the price of entry onto dry land.

Based on the classic Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, and the wildly popular Disney film, this musical staging of “The Little Mermaid” features a funny and fanciful book by Doug Wright, with the beloved score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater.
