Emily Yuse, Grove City College senior, received the Andrew D. Zima '65 Scholarship Endowment. Yuse, who is majoring in biology and prehealth and minoring in psychology and sociology, conducts cancer research at the college. She plans to attend medical school at Ohio State University.

Trevecca Nazarene University student Jessie Fair, of Slippery Rock, was selected from among 4,000 student applications to present the National Conference on Undergraduate Research at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Ga. The conference is April 10-13.

Fair, majoring in music theory and composition, will present “Why Eastern Music Should Be Taught in the United States.” Fair is a graduate of Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School.

One hundred twenty-one new members were inducted into Saint Vincent College's chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta, an international honor society for first-year students with outstanding academic achievement.

Students must maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher during their first year of study to be considered for membership in the organization.

Local students inducted include:

Butler: Mercedes Belch and Morgan Constantino

Sarver: Austin Kemp and Hannah Mason

Saxonburg: Cayla Smith

Slippery Rock: Braith Kiser

Zelienople: Nicholas Duer

ADAMS TWP — Two teams from Mars High School competed in the 2019 Western Pennsylvania High School Science Bowl at Community College of Allegheny County — South Campus in West Mifflin.

Mars Team #1, made up of juniors Dylan Becker, Zach Leachman (captain), Griffin Miller, Adrian Zugehar and freshman Audrey Milk, took second place in preliminary round of the Division B competition.

Mars Team #2, which included junior Matthew Gourash (captain) and freshmen Audrey Gehm, Timothy Jayamohan, Raghav Kalbhor and Rohan Narasimhan, won two matches in Division A.

The students competed against 40 teams from local high schools in questions about biology, chemistry, earth and space, energy, mathematics and physics.
