Man accused of selling drugs
A Butler County man is accused of selling cocaine three different times to a police informant in 2017.
Butler police on Monday night arrested Vantelle M. English, 21, of Fairview after a traffic stop near their station on West New Castle Street. He's being held in the Butler County Prison on $75,000 bail.
State police vice officers had been looking for English since Jan. 3 when they got three arrest warrants for him on drug-selling charges in Butler.
Police said the defendant sold cocaine to an informant on June 13, July 10 and Aug. 28, 2017.
Each of the alleged deals, according to court documents, involved a $400 purchase of cocaine weighing in varying amounts between 2.94 grams and 3.54 grams.
Police said two of the controlled buys occurred on North Main Street near College Street and the third one in the parking lot at Pullman Square shopping plaza.
City police knew there were warrants out for English about 10 p.m. Monday when they made the traffic stop. He told an officer that he was unaware of the warrants, police said.
District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned English on three counts each of felony and misdemeanor drug possession. His preliminary hearing is set for Monday.
