Farewell, friend
One of Butler’s very best died Nov. 29 and was buried with military honors at a national cemetery in Virginia. That citizen was Chief Master Sgt. Richard Taylor (Obituary: Dec. 2, Page 7).
Dick never forgot his roots and managed to come back to Butler to visit friends and attend as many high school class reunions as he could. In recent years he even served on his class of 1950 reunion committee.
His best memories of Butler included attending St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, walking along Main Street on Saturday evenings when it was crowded with shoppers and everyone knew each other. Going to the Hot Dog Shop or Herold’s Dairy was best of all because he was with his friends. Many remained his friends over his lifetime. He will be missed. Good bye, Dick.
