Butler nurse nominated for honor

Melisse Maser

Melisse Maser, a nurse practitioner who is Butler Health System's neurology service clinical coordinator, has been nominated by her peers to represent the health system at an annual rewards reception.

The reception, which will be Dec. 5 at the Omni William Penn in Pittsburgh, honors the unsung heroes of the region's health care field.

Maser is Butler Memorial Hospital's stroke program coordinator.

According to a news release from the health system, Maser built evidence-based pathways, created performance improvement objectives, lead teams to achieve the objectives, educated nursing and physician staff, created and leads the interdisciplinary stroke team, and created a stroke rapid-response team and protocol while at BHS.

Before serving in her current post, Maser worked at BMH as an advanced practice nurse for 13 years. In that position, she facilitated stroke care and spearheaded stroke performance improvement at the hospital.

She has won numerous awards and belongs to the American Academy of Neurology, American Association of Neuroscience Nurses and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
