EVANS CITY — The Evans City Historical Society is hosting “It’s a Grand Old Flag” honoring the service veterans of the Evans City area.

The exhibition runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 3 and Nov. 10 at the society’s museum, 204 S Jackson St.

Displays will feature military photos, uniforms, artifacts and memorabilia from several wars.

[naviga:h3]Christmas sale set at Concordia [/naviga:h3]

JEFFERSON TWP — The community is invited to a Christmas sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday in Concordia’s Haven I dining room, 112 Marwood Road.

There will be 25 vendors selling homemade jellies and salsas and cookies. Proceeds will benefit Concordia Haven resident activities.

[naviga:h3]Library will host Christmas market[/naviga:h3]

GROVE CITY — The Grove City Library, 125 W. Main St., will host its third annual Christmas Marketplace from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 10.

It will feature local artisans, crafters, vendors, baked goods and homemade soups. Proceeds benefit the library.

[naviga:h3]Author to discuss ‘Rambler’ book[/naviga:h3]

ZELIENOPLE — Linda and Steve Schmitmeyer will be coming to the Chapel at Passavant Senior Life, 105 Burgess Drive, at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

They will present and sign Linda’s book “Rambler: A Family Pushes Through the Fog of Mental Illness,” which concerns the onset of a bipolar disorder.

[naviga:h3]‘Sights, Sounds’ show slated [/naviga:h3]

PORTERSVILLE — Tickets are on sale for Portersville Christian School’s “An Evening of Sights and Sounds” at 7 p.m. Nov. 9 and 10 at the school, 343 E. Portersville Road.

The event is a showcase of student performances.

Ticket order forms are available on the home page of the school’s website, www.ourpcs.org or by calling the school office at 724-368-8787, Ext. 201.

Tickets will also be available at the door.

[naviga:h3]Adopt resident program returns[/naviga:h3]

JEFFERSON TWP — Each December, many of the locations in the Concordia Lutheran Ministries participate in “Adopt-A-Resident.”

Skilled nursing and personal care residents provide the activities staff with a wish list. Then people “adopt” a resident to make sure they have a gift to open for Christmas.

If interested in the program at Concordia, 112 Marwood Road, call Roberta Breninghouse at 724-352-1571, Ext. 8241 (for skilled nursing residents) or Jaime White at Ext. 8302 (for personal care residents). Deadline for gifts is Dec. 15.
