ATV crash injures couple trail riding

BRADY TWP — Firefighters had to rescue a man and woman who were hurt Sunday afternoon when the all-terrain vehicle they were riding crashed in woods near Muddy Creek Drive, emergency crews said.

Both victims, who are believed to be in their 20s, needed hospital treatment for their injuries in the accident shortly before 3 p.m.

State police are investigating but an accident report was not immediately available Monday.

The couple was apparently riding a four-wheel ATV on a trail in the woods when the vehicle rolled onto its side, said Nathan Wulff, chief of Unionville Volunteer Fire Department.

He did not know who was the driving the ATV. One of the riders called 911.

Rescuers found the injured couple in a wooded area about one-quarter mile from a private lane off Muddy Creek Drive in Brady Township.

Both of the riders were conscious and had moderate injuries, authorities said. The Herman Volunteer Fire Company provided a utility vehicle that took the woman out of the woods.

A separate fire vehicle was used to get the man out. Both were taken to unknown hospitals; one them ended up at a Pittsburgh hospital.
