1 person hurt in Route 422 crash

Butler Township police are investigating a one-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon on Route 422 that left one person injured. Police suspect hydroplaning.

BUTLER TWP — Hydroplaning was suspected in a single-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon on Route 422 that left one person injured, police said.

The wreck happened about 1:45 p.m. when the driver apparently lost control of a car while traveling east near the Route 356 ramp.

A backseat passenger, a man believed to be in his late-teens or early 20s, suffered minor injuries, Butler Township police said.

Butler Township volunteer firefighters and a Butler Ambulance Service crew tended to the man, who complained of back pain, He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

The driver and a front-seat passenger, also believed to be in their late-teens or early 20s, were not injured. All three occupants were from the Prospect/Portersville area. Their names were not immediately available.

Police believe the car hydroplaned on the wet road during a sudden thunderstorm.
