Edwards Ice Cream stand back in business
Local patrons flocked to the grand opening of Edwards Ice Cream, supporting the small business.
Ben McCurdy and his son, Dustin, were two of the first customers to pull up.
“I’ve been coming to this place for 63 years,” McCurdy said. “I’m so excited, I’m like a kid in a candy store. It tastes perfect, just like 63 years ago.”
The ice cream stand, located next to Butler High School on New Castle Road, is owned by Jim Edwards, who called the re-opening of his shop “exciting.”
Edwards previously operated the business as a Dairy Queen, but after breaking away from the group, set up his own shop.
“I’ve been coming here since I was 2-years-old,” Dustin said. “It’s going to bring a lot more people back here, get more people outside and bring more activities.”
Edwards Ice Cream is open from noon until 10 p.m. daily. For opening day, raspberry was the flavor of the day.
The shop is at 169 New Castle Road.
