Hannah Kohl

NORTH WASHINGTON — The North Washington Rodeo has crowned Hannah Kohl the 2018 North Washington Rodeo Queen.

Hannah is 18 years old and a senior at Mars High School.

She lives near Prospect, giving a hand to students in the arena and riding for Culver Training Stable's IEA

As the North Washington Rodeo Queen, Hannah will have the opportunity to promote the rodeo through various events in and around Butler County throughout the summer. She will also attend and participate in the rodeo and rodeo parade.

The North Washington Rodeo runs Aug. 14 through Aug. 18 at the North Washington Rodeo Grounds.

GRAND CHAMPIONS — The Seneca Valley High School Marching Band was named the Grand Champions in the Norfolk North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Festival´s “Parade of Nations” last month in Norfolk, Va. The marching band also earned the best overall music performance award, best marching award and a gold rating. In addition, at this festival adjudication, Seneca Valley's Wind Ensemble was awarded first place, the best overall concert band award, a gold rating and senior Liz Winters (clarinet) was recognized as the most outstanding instrumental soloist. SV´s Jazz Ensemble 1 and Jazz Ensemble 2 both earned gold ratings and senior Tommy Zugell (tenor sax) was recognized as the most outstanding jazz soloist. PUTTING ON A SHOW — Actors in the play “Schemes in the Kings Court” from left, Rich Dickson, Caleb Patterson (one of the authors), Luke Speck and Steven White enact a scene in the play writted by Patterson and his sister, Hannah, as a home school project. The play was performed April 21 and 22 and April 28 and 29 in the auditorium of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St.
