A woman was killed shortly after noon when she lost control of her motorcycle and crashed into trees along Saxonburg Road in Jefferson Township.

A woman was killed shortly after noon when she lost control of her motorcycle and crashed into trees along Saxonburg Road in Jefferson Township, authorities said.

State police are investigating but they did not release her name.

The woman was northbound about 12:15 p.m. near Burtner Road when the cycle went off the right side of the road, said Chris Ballina, chief of the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Department.

A motorist headed in the opposite direction saw the crash and called 911. The woman was wearing a helmet.She suffered massive injuries to her head and body, authorities said.

Emergency crews are awaiting the coroner.
