Burning leaves damages two garages
BUTLER TWP — A few piles of leaves turned into two lightly scorched garages.
The fire was called at around noon to 231 S. Eberhart Road, according to the Emergency Services Public Call Access.
The owner of the singed property and one of the two damaged garages was burning three piles of leaves earlier, according to Arvin Bell, a neighbor.
Dave Bestwick, chief of Butler Township Fire Station 3, said he called for backup due to concerns about the wind. He called the backup off after his 13 firefighters and VA Butler Fire Department 38 gained control of the site. He said the fire took about 20 minutes to smother.
