PIAA pushes championship games to next week

UPDATEDA day after postponing the girls' basketball tournament due to inclement weather, Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association officials have pushed the boys' games until next week.On Wednesday, officials said winter weather has impacted the majority of schools playing in the tournament, leading them to move games scheduled for this week to next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.The Mars boys will now play Arbington Heights in the Class 5A title game at 8 p.m. Tuesday. at the Giant Center in Hershey.On Tuesday, the semifinal games for the Mars and Cardinal Wuerl girls were pushed to Thursday. Officials with the PIAA said they will make a decision on those games Wednesday afternoon.For now, the Mars girls are scheduled to play Archbishop Carroll at 5 p.m. at Bald Eagle High School in the 5A semifinal, followed by Cardinal Wuerl taking on Berks Catholic in the 4A semifinal at 6:30 p.m.The 4A championship game is scheduled for noon Wednesday, while the 5A game is set for 6 p.m. at the Giant Center.

UPDATE (2:05PM): PIAA officials have postponed and moved semifinal games in the girls basketball championship that had been scheduled for Thursday.Early Wednesday afternoon PIAA officials handed down decisions to reschedule the girls' semi-final matchups for Saturday. The games, which had been already been pushed back once, were also moved.The Mars girls are scheduled to play Archbishop Carroll at 1 p.m. Saturday at State College High School in the 5A semifinal, followed by Cardinal Wuerl taking on Berks Catholic in the 4A semifinal at 2:30 p.m. at the same location.
