South Butler County School District teachers emerged from strike headquarters at the Saxonburg VFW to cross Dinnerbell Road and hit the picket line for the first time since a strike was called.
The teachers remained inside the VFW all morning, emerging at 11:15 a.m.
The school board has threatened to eliminate many of its offers if an agreement was not reached by Thursday.
On the school district's website was a message to parents that read, “Due to the teachers' strike, school will not be in session until further notice. Updates will be posted on the District website as they become available. When school resumes, families will be notified by the call system.”
