Butler drug watch gets $5K challenge grant
BUTLER — Butler’s fledgling neighborhood drug watch has been offered a $5,000 grant from the Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau. There’s only one catch: community donations must come up with a $5,000 match.
“The bureau is very interested in being involved in this program,” Tourism Bureau President Jack Cohen said Wednesday. “This money will be strictly to assist with marketing efforts.”
It was reported last week that the Tourism Bureau had acquired the vacant lot of the former Worsley’s building at North Main and North streets, next door to the Penn Theater. Plans for the property have not been disclosed.
Supporters of the Neighborhood Drug Watch (https://www.facebook.com/neighborhooddrugwatch) are seeking pledges toward the match.
See Thursday’s Butler Eagle for a complete report.
