Butler Township to welcome two students to board
BUTLER TWP — Township commissioners would like to hear what young adults think about local government.
The commissioners Monday night approved a new program in partnership with Butler School District to get two student municipal representatives.
Under the program, there would be two student representatives: one junior and one senior who live in the township and go to Butler High School.
The junior would have the option to continue serving for his or her senior year.
The students will not vote or participate in executive sessions. They will be seated next to the commissioners and other township officials during their twice-monthly meetings, and will have an opportunity to speak during department reports and during discussion of agenda items.
