Trio leads Freeport
Three Freeport players scored more than 20 points as the Yellowjackets rolled to a 99-73 win over Apollo-Ridge Tuesday night.
Isiah Bauman scored 22 points and Damon Shiring and Ben Beale with 21 each for Freeport (2-1).
Jalen Brown also reached double-digits for the Yellowjackets with 12 points.
Mars 72, McKeesport 66 — The Planets (3-0) trailed by six at halftime before pulling out the victory. Robby Carmody led Mars with 44 points.
Michael Carmody and Andrew Recchia scored 10 points each for the Planets, who travel to Knoch Friday.
Terron Taylor and D'Amonte Diggs had 18 each for McKeesport.
Indiana 51, Knoch 38 — Julian Sanks hit four 3-pointers for a team-high 12 points, but the Knights could not crawl out of an early hole in this non-section loss.
Knoch (2-1) fell behind 29-15 at the half as Indiana stars Carlos Carter and Tommy Arbuckle combined to score 28.
Carter finished the game with 22 points, Arbuckle with 20.
Jared Schrecengost added 10 points for the Knights.
Moniteau 49, Union 35 — Ethan McKeavitt scored 17 points and Jared Lominski added 14 points and 12 rebounds as the Warriors downed the Golden Knights.
Lucas Bowser led Union with 11 points.
Keystone 70, A-C Valley 41 — Russell Carr scored 15 points and Jeff Ginn added 13 rebounds, but the Falcons fell in this KSAC battle.
Keystone shot 66 percent (12-of-18) from 3-point range while the Falcons were a mere 3-fo-23 from beyond the arc.
Peters Township 65, CW North Catholic 31 — The Trojans fell to 0-3 with this road loss. Brian Davidson led CWNC with nine points.
The Trojans host Gateway Friday night.
Karns City 55, Redbank Valley 41 — Austin Fahlor led the Gremlins (2-1) while Chase Bailey added 14. Jacob Friel pitched in with nine points and eight rebounds.
Karns City travels to Keystone Friday night.
Yough 45, Summit Academy 38 — Nasir Bluitt and Jaylon Ketchum each scored eight points for the Knights (0-3).
Girls Basketball
Bella Pelaia scored 14 points, but Mars dropped a tight contest to Gateway, 45-38.
The Planets fell to 1-2 on the season.
Armstrong 50, Knoch 36 — The Knights slipped to 0-3 with this Monday night loss. Kenzie Leisher scored 25 points for Armstrong while Kayla Grafton paced Knoch with 11.
Knoch travels to North Hills Thursday.
Private Schools
Aaron Drake scored 19 points and grabbed 24 rebounds to lead First Baptist Christian to a 47-39 boys basketball win over Jefferson County Christian Tuesday night.
Ryan Creaturo had 12 points, Derrek Butterworth 10 points and eight assists. Ben Elliott and Shawn Richardson scored nine points each for Jefferson.
Rifle
Andrew Arbanas, Cami Tack, Nick Fritz, Jason Hansotte and Tiffany Carlson all shot 100s to lead Butler to a 797-60x to 797-51x victory over Bethel Park.
Swimming
Seneca Valley swept its meet against Knoch, the boys winning 92-69, the girls 98-78.
Individual winners for the Knoch girls were Abby Bielstein in the 100-yard backstroke and Lindsey Fanton in the 100 breaststroke. On the boys side, Braden Zukowski won the 100 backstroke and Matt Karenbauer the 100 breaststroke.
Both Knoch teams won the 200 and 400 free relay.
