[naviga:h3]Live Nativity slated in Bakerstown[/naviga:h3]

BAKERSTOWN First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, Route 8 and Heckert Road, will have a live Nativity from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Witness the story of Christ’s birth, with actors and live animals, including camels. An audio narration guides an outdoor walk.

There will be choir music, indoor caroling and refreshments and each family with children will receive a gift.

[naviga:h3]Community center hosts concert[/naviga:h3]

SLIPPERY ROCK — The Friendship Presbyterian Community Center of Slippery Rock, 886 New Castle Road, will host Ken Metrick in concert Saturday.

Dessert will be served at 6:30 p.m., and the concert is at 7 p.m. An offering will be received.

[naviga:h3]Drive-through Nativity planned[/naviga:h3]

PENN TWP — Nixon United Methodist Church, 334 Airport Road, will have a drive-through Nativity scene from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

The scene will revisit the story of Joseph and Mary’s journey and the birth of Jesus with live actors and animals.

The cost for the event is a canned good that will be donated to the South Central Butler County Food Bank, or a monetary donation to help defray the cost of the event.

[naviga:h3]ACTS sets holiday performances[/naviga:h3]

The ACTS (Adoring Christ Through Song) Choir and Orchestra will present “Christmas Fantasia” at 7 p.m Saturday at Mount Chestnut Presbyterian Church, 727 W. Old Route 422, Mount Chestnut, and at 7 p.m. Sunday at Center Presbyterian Church, 211 Center St., Slippery Rock.

“Christmas Fantasia” is a seasonal collection of carols and best-loved songs from Grammy- and Dove Award-winner Greg Nelson and veteran arranger David Hamilton.

ACTS is a nonprofit choral/instrumental organization.

[naviga:h3]Holiday concert set at St. Mark’s[/naviga:h3]

A Circle of Friends featuring singing and ringing choirs will perform “The Christmas Concert” at 7:30 p.m. Friday at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St.

An ice cream sundae social will follow the concert. An offering will be taken to benefit the Salvation Army.

St. John’s plans holiday concert

St. John’s Reformed Church, 494 Evans City Road, will have a free Christmas concert featuring John Thomas and Ashley Crawford at 7 p.m. Friday.

[naviga:h3]Vision Quartet will perform concert[/naviga:h3]

CABOT — Cabot United Methodist Church, 707 Winfield Road, will host an evening with The Vision Quartet Friday. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert will be at 7 p.m.

Light refreshments will follow the concert. Tickets are not required, but donations will be received.

[naviga:h3]Anglican church presents concert[/naviga:h3]

The Sacred Music Choir 2017 will present a concert of sacred Christmas choral, handbell and organ music at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at Saint Peter’s Anglican Church, 218 E. Jefferson St.

The concert is free and donations will be accepted. A reception will follow the concert.

[naviga:h3]Concordia hosts live Nativity[/naviga:h3]

JEFFERSON TWP — Concordia Lutheran Ministries will host its fifth annual live Nativity scene Sunday in front of the Haven II building at 148 Marwood Road.

Performances are 15 minutes and will be scheduled at 4:30, 5:15 and 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Live Christmas music, hot beverages and refreshments will be provided indoors as well as a gift for children 12 and under. This will be a “walk-through” Nativity, so guests are encouraged to dress for the weather.

[naviga:h3]Carol sing set in Saxonburg[/naviga:h3]

SAXONBURG — There will be a community carol sing and music at 6 p.m. Sunday at Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church. 100 W. Main St.

The event is free and will include a cookie reception.

[naviga:h3]Holy hour schedule given for December[/naviga:h3]

The Holy Hour for Peace will begin at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St. There will be Prayers for Peace, Vocations, On Mission for the Church Alive, Novena Prayers of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, a rosary and Benediction.

The Divine Mercy Holy Hour will start at 7 p.m. Dec. 18 at St. Paul. There will be Prayers for Family Healing, On Mission for the Church Alive, Divine Mercy Chaplet and Benediction.
