Police search for 2 in violent break-in

Pennsylvania State Police are searching for two suspects in an armed home-invasion robbery that occurred in Clay Township on Saturday.

Public Information Officer Trooper Ronald Kesten said the incident occurred on Euclid Road around 6 a.m. Saturday, when a 74-year-old resident answered a knock on his door and was confronted by at least two white males, most likely in their 20s.

Kesten said the men forced their way into the home, one armed with a knife, the other a gun, and physically beat the resident and pistol-whipped him.

The man was then forced to open a safe, from which "several items" were stolen. More items were also stolen from the home before the men fled, Kesten said.

Kesten said the man was found badly beaten by family members nearly 12 hours later, and was flown to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of multiple injuries.

“He was incapacitated for about 12 hours after the attack,” Kesten said.

No injury report was available.

Kesten said the two men entered the home, but it is unknown if more were involved. He said the victim reported at the time that he did not know who the men were.

No arrests have yet to be made, and Kesten said police do not know if the incident was targeted or random.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact police at the barracks at 724-284-8100.
