UNIVERSITY PARK — Jessica Hunter, a Penn State student majoring in biological engineering, was selected as a College of Agricultural Sciences Alumni Society Internship Award winner.

Hunter was the engineering intern at McCrone Engineering in Annapolis, Md., where she worked on 23 different projects. In the land development department, Hunter dealt with civil site design, including assignments on soil and water studies and design.

She works with the Penn State Bridges to Prosperity, a nonprofit organization that builds footbridges over otherwise impassable rivers in impoverished areas globally.

She is a graduate of Mars High School and the daughter of Robin and Gary Hunter of Mars.

JACKSON TWP — Sixteen Seneca Valley Senior High School students participated in a juried art show at Slippery Rock University’s 2017 Regional High School Art Exhibition at the Martha Gault Gallery.

Seniors Erin Piotrowski, Lauren George, Elizabeth Linton and Sarah Kosakowski received portfolio scholarships to SRU based on the breadth and depth of the portfolios that they submitted.

Senior Jack Reynolds received the Best in Show Award for his photography. Senior Blake Mercer received an honorable mention for his work in ceramics.

Other Seneca Valley students whose work was on display included Reece Basehore, Gracie Carothers, Corin Trejchel, Emma Perdue, Amelia Reese, Isabella Moosa, Paige Biordi, Kelsey Gianfrancesco, Liz Koromaus and Angelina Kennedy.
