PITTSBURGH — La Roche College welcomed five new members in May to its board of trustees, including a woman who serves on at least one other board in Butler County.

Susan Hoolahan, a La Roche alumna and Distinguished Alumni Circle member in 2014, brings more than 34 years of progressive nursing experience, including critical care, nursing leadership and hospital operations in both academic and community teaching organizations.

Hoolahan serves as chief nursing officer and vice president of patient care services at UPMC Passavant. She also serves on the board of directors for the American Heart Association of Beaver and Butler counties.

Butler County residents were elected to two of the six available positions on the Concordia Lutheran Ministries board.

Eighteen board members comprise the organization’s governing body and represent the 32 Lutheran Missouri Synod churches in the Western Pennsylvania.

Peter Humphrey of Cranberry Township was selected to serve a three-year term. This is Humphrey’s second consecutive year as a director. He was elected board vice chairman last year and was a member of the Executive and Strategic Planning committees.

Joining Humphrey will be the Rev. Barry Keurulainen of Cabot, who has served as shepherd at St. Luke in Cabot since 1982.

Keurulainen previously served on the Concordia board for 15 years. He also held leadership roles in the Eastern District, LCMS Board of Evangelism Services and its board of directors for the Lutheran Family Association and has written many devotions and Bible studies for Concordia Publishing House.

He served the previous three years as a director and this past year as chairman of the Mission and Ministry Committee.
